Clint Cox

Owner and Strength & Conditioning Coach at Penance Gym

A native son of Fayette County, raised on a family farm and active in athletics throughout his youth, Clint developed a deep connection to physically demanding activities early on. His passion for health and fitness led him to begin his professional training career in 2010, and in 2013, he founded Penance Gym. Originally focused on supporting athletes, Clint soon recognized a greater need for strength and fitness training among adults, prompting a shift in the gym’s mission.

At Penance Gym, we believe in simplicity and sustainability. Our training philosophy centers on enhancing strength, stability, and endurance with exercises that improve everyday life.
I have found a natural affinity for rehabilitating lower back issues, helping many achieve pain relief and regain their functional strength.

When I’m not coaching, I’m likely tending to our budding homestead, caring for our longhorn cattle, pigs, turkeys, and chickens, or enjoying outdoor adventures with my family. Whether it’s camping, kayaking, or just playing sports, it’s all about living a life full of activity and enjoying our health.

Theresa Young

NASM-CPT, NASM-WFS (Women’s Fitness Specialist), Prosper Nutrition Certified Coach
General Manager at Penance Gym

Hello! I’m Theresa, and I’ve taken a somewhat unconventional path to becoming your fitness and wellness coach. Growing up, my world revolved around books, art, and music—far from the athletic endeavors that most coaches usually participate in. My passion for health was sparked in my 20s, driven by a desire to support my oldest son, who is on the Autism Spectrum. Witnessing firsthand how dietary changes could profoundly impact his life ignited my passion for nutrition. This passion grew alongside my family, deepening significantly with the birth of my last child and pushing me towards a commitment to not just nutritional, but overall physical health.
For six years, I worked behind the scenes at Penance Gym, where I realized a crucial gap in our services— our need for a female trainer to help women develop the strength they desperately needed. Inspired to make a change, I became a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and Women’s Fitness Specialist. By 2024, I also became a Certified Nutrition Coach, ready to empower others through knowledge and compassion.
My coaching philosophy is simple: Focus on progress, not perfection. Life isn’t linear and neither is the path to wellness. I believe in building habits gradually, ensuring each step becomes second nature before moving on. This approach is about creating lasting change without being overwhelmed.
Outside the gym, I’m the same girl I always was. I still love to curl up with a good book as well as cook, bake, embroider and knit. I also homeschool my two youngest children.
Join me at Penance Gym, and let’s build a stronger, healthier future together, one achievable step at a time.

Take the first step.
