Introducing the Penance Gym Team

Meet the fitness experts ready to help you achieve your fitness goals and your potential.

Our Founder

Clint Cox

Clint has been working in the health and fitness industry for over a decade. His work is driven by his passion for helping others develop and grow, as well as maintaining their quality of life.

He started out working with high school and collegiate athletes and found he was drawn to this type of work because it was rewarding in many ways. He loved watching them succeed on the field, court, or track. He also enjoyed getting to know these kids outside of sports. This made him very happy that he had helped them get better at something they cared about so much.

After becoming a father late in 2010, Clint’s own fitness goals shifted toward longevity and quality of life. With that came a focus on helping clients reduce and eliminate pain, and return to activities that they once loved.

On any given day you can find Clint working with our Achieve group class, leading developing team sport athletes to new levels of ability and performance, or working 1-to-1 with clients to help them eliminate pains and frustrations that they had previously accepted to just be a part of their life.

Our Professional Coaches

Theresa Young

Theresa will be the first one to tell you that she's not an athlete. She didn't grow up working out or playing sports. When she joined the staff at Penance Gym in October 2015, it was in a supportive and administrative role. Over the years she earned her position as the general manager.

She didn’t consider becoming a fitness coach until the summer of 2021. After a string of consultations with women who felt unsafe training with a man (and not having any female coaches on staff at the time), she underwent the training to become certified.

She knows firsthand how important it is for women to strength train. As a working wife and mother to very active boys, her family depends on her to balance all the plates, all the time. She takes the time to work out to protect not only her physical health, but her mental and emotional health as well. She wants to ensure that other women always have that same opportunity.

When she’s not at Penance, you can find her hanging out with her kids or going camping with her family.
