Now that we’ve wrapped up another round of Penance Reviews, it’s the perfect time to pause and reflect. For those unfamiliar, our quarterly review process is a structured way to test your progress—strength, conditioning, mobility, and overall capacity. It gives us all a chance to step back and measure what’s working and what needs adjusting.
The last 13 weeks were an opportunity—an opportunity to grow stronger, build habits, and test how consistent we’ve really been.
As a coach, I had the privilege of watching many of you hit progress milestones you didn’t think were possible. Those moments are always rewarding. But I also saw the frustration from a few who didn’t see the progress they hoped for. And while I’m not here to hand out blame or excuses, I do want to challenge each of you to reflect honestly.
If you had a great showing—why?
- Were you more consistent in your attendance?
- Did you push yourself when it mattered most?
- Were you intentional about your nutrition—especially getting enough protein?
- Did you cut back on processed junk and focus on fueling your body well?
These aren’t small questions. These are the building blocks that determine your progress in the gym—and far beyond it.
If you didn’t have the showing you wanted, it’s not the end of the world. But it is time to ask:
- What can you change moving forward?
- What do you need help with?
- How can we better support you?
Because we are in this together.
Your wins feel like our wins. And when you struggle—we feel that too. You don’t have to go it alone. Penance is a community, not just a gym.
If you’re not sure where to go from here, ask us. Set a goal. Pick one habit to focus on this week.
Small course corrections now lead to big results later.
The next 13 weeks start now. Let’s get to work.
