Important Update: Programming Changes Coming to Penance

As many of you know, the fitness industry is constantly evolving. After reviewing the latest trends, consulting some “leading experts,” and evaluating hundreds of wearables, apps, and heart rate graphs, we’ve decided it’s time to realign our training model.

Starting next week, all workouts at Penance will be designed around calorie burn and wearable integration.

We’ll be adjusting session structure to prioritize:

  • Higher heart rate spikes to improve “zone exposure”
  • Rapid-fire circuits with minimal rest to keep the step counts up
  • Optional “double badge days” for those syncing with Apple Watch, Fitbit, or WHOOP
  • Movement selection based on smartwatch compatibility—if it doesn’t show up on your tracker, it’s off the program

We’re even in talks to develop a custom Penance app that will reward members with digital trophies based on monthly burn stats.

To help with the transition, our coaching staff is being re-certified in Heart Rate Visibility Coaching™ and Metrics-First Functional Plyometrics.

If you’re wondering why this all feels a bit off…
Good. That means you know us well.

Happy April Fools’ from your favorite strength-first, coaching-driven, no-nonsense training facility.

We’ll stick to what we do best:

  • Building real strength that improves your life
  • Coaching with purpose, not chasing gimmicks
  • And measuring progress in more meaningful ways than a step count

Whether you choose to implement wearable tech or not, we see the effort…
And at Penance, effort earns respect—every single day.
