HYROX Training Club in Oakland, TN | Endurance Training at Penance Gym

Penance Gym was built on a simple idea:

Help people become stronger, healthier, and more capable for life outside the gym.

That mission is not changing.

For current Penance Gym members, your day-to-day training experience will remain unchanged. You can still expect the same coach-led, strength-biased interval training that has defined our approach for years:
structured workouts, intelligent progressions, built-in scalability, and training designed for real people and real life.

That foundation is not going anywhere.

But we are excited to officially announce that Penance Gym has finalized the process of becoming an official HYROX Training Club.

This allows us to expand our offerings and serve our community in a new way.

Over the years, we have seen countless adults become interested in endurance-based training and events:
5Ks, marathons, Spartan races, HYROX events, triathlons, and general cardiovascular conditioning.
Often in the name of “better health.”

At the same time, we have also seen many people pursue those goals in ways that leave them injured, exhausted, burned out, or physically broken down.

We want to show that there is a better way.

But rest assured, we are not abandoning strength training to chase endurance.

We are helping people build endurance without destroying themselves in the process.

Our goal is to help people improve their cardiovascular health, endurance, and work capacity while still supporting long-term strength, joint health, resilience, and quality of life.

We want people to be able to:

  • train hard without constantly feeling wrecked
  • improve conditioning without destroying their knees, ankles, or lower back
  • prepare for races and endurance events intelligently
  • become healthier and more capable while still having energy left for their careers, families, and responsibilities

That is where these new endurance and HYROX offerings come in.

In the coming weeks, we will begin releasing more details about:

  • Endurance/HYROX memberships
  • HYROX-focused training opportunities
  • Event preparation
  • Hybrid training for long-term performance and health

This is not a departure from who we are.

It is an expansion of what we can offer, who we can serve, and how we can help people prepare for life outside the gym.

And we are excited about where it is headed.
