“I originally came to Penance to provide moral support for my sister, who signed us up for the 6 week challenge class.
I had been active and stayed in shape most of my life, but had severely fallen off the wagon… HARD 🤣
I was unhappy with the way I looked & the way I felt. It depressed me to get dressed, look in the mirror, etc. That was by far the biggest problem/issue I had.
When I started the class, I instantly fell in love with it. To be honest I wasn’t sure I would even like this type of workout because I had always heard horror stories about how difficult it was and was intimidated by the use of barbells, ropes, and kettlebells… I had never used any of the equipment before.
Clint and Rachel were great about teaching all the basic movements you would need in order to use the equipment mentioned above. So when I started working with it, it was not intimidating at all.
There is something for everyone, it can all be modified for your level. No judgement, no disappointment… Everyone is genuinely happy to help, their goal is to make workouts not just comfortable, but effective for you as well.
That’s the biggest plus about Penance. Yes, it is a gym, but the optimum goal is for to look and feel good about yourself. Mission accomplished.
Since starting the challenge and continuing into the group class, I have lost somewhere around 20 pounds, am wearing sleeveless shirts (which I haven’t worn in years), and have no problem looking in the mirror -> It’s no longer depressing, but encouraging!
I keep coming back because I enjoy not only the workouts, but the encouragement from staff and other members!
I don’t think it’s possible to find a better facility for transformation, encouragement, and resolution anywhere. I truly look forward to workouts everyday. Yes it’s necessary to exercise to stay happy and healthy… but Penance is a place that you (I) go not because I have to, but because I want to.
I love everything about it!!”
