Any nutrition strategy (diet) that has a high chance of success and sustainability will focus on getting enough protein in your daily intake. Even better if you can be sure to get enough protein in each meal or snack though.
But that is where the challenge can lie. Since the vast majority of quality sources of protein require some kind of preparation/cooking.
This is where preparing meat in batches comes in handy – and that is what I bring to you today.
Simple Slow Cooker Shredded Chicken
About 4 pounds of chicken (we’ve mostly used breasts for this but I’m sure thighs would be delicious)
About 1 cup of stock or broth (we chose to use our homemade chicken stock)
Ranch seasoning packet
Au Jus Gravy seasoning packet
About as simple as can be – place chicken in slow cooker. Sprinkle both seasoning packets over the chicken then add or pour broth/stock.
Set to low heat for 6-8 hours. Stir everything around after an hour or so, then shred the meat before eating. Enjoy!
