Member Spotlight – Heather S.

We are truly honored when our athletes invite us to share their successes.  Heather lost an AMAZING 47 pounds and decided she wanted to strap them back on for a celebratory jaunt.  Coach Clint was all-too happy to add weight to his vest and try his best to keep up.  So, we decided there was no better time than to spotlight her and her awesome milestone.

-Name: Heather Slatton

-Age: 30

-Hometown: Somerville

-Career: Deputy Clerk at the Criminal Justice Complex

-What is the most important life lesson you’ve learned?  The best I have learned so far is to try your best and be proud of what you have accomplished.  I have never felt like I was good enough, did enough, or worked hard enough.  Fitness and the awesome coaches we have are teaching me to be proud of all my accomplishments no matter how small I think they are.

-What are your most AND least favorite Fitness movements?  I love any movement that is just lifting heavy stuff!!  Tire flips, deadlifts, back squats, and bench press are fun!  I am not a fan of movements I do not do well.  Box jumps, overhead squats, pull-ups, and toes-to-bar SUCK.  I do not like wall balls, burpees and running.  BUT I have noticed progress with these movements, so I don’t HATE them.

-How has Fitness affected your life outside the box?  Fitness has given me more energy.  I am able to play with my son for a long time, to run after him, play soccer, and just literally get on the floor and back up.  It has also given me confidence.  People outside the box might still look at me and see a “fat girl”, but I don’t care because I know what I do every day at the gym, AAAAAAND I know that I could probably throw them on my back and squat them!

-What is your favorite restaurant?  Favorite all time restaurant is Nagasaki on Summer Avenue … de-lish!  I could eat Mexican any time, though!

-What is the last book you read?  I am currently reading the newest Sherrlyn Kenyon book in the Dark Hunter series, Dragonsworn.

-If you could trade places with anyone for the day, who would it be and why?  I have never thought about trading places with someone before, but I wouldn’t mind hanging out with Chef Gordon Ramsey!

-What are your plans for your future?  I am learning to let go, and let God.  I am taking life one day at a time right now.
