“A little over 2 years ago I was introduced to Do Work Training Systems. I was speaking with my friend Melony about her diet and exercise routine as I had recently given birth and was wanting to get back in shape. She told me about these bootcamp classes that were three times a week and lasted about 30 minutes. I was inspired by her results and gave it a try.
For about ten minutes after each class I felt like vomiting. This lasted for at least the first two weeks. Soon that feeling passed and I felt so good and energized. I was pushing myself and getting stronger with each class. September came and I was ready for more. I went to Clint and he said I should try the StrongFit class. This was the class with Clint, Alex, ReRun, Pattie, and Rachel…the strong people! I was nervous and wasn’t sure if I was strong enough to do the workouts they did. Before I knew it I was doing strict pull-ups and was stronger than I had ever been in my life. Soon StrongFit became Fitness and Do Work became Fitness Penance.
One might ask, what’s your drive to do Fitness? Well, I am a woman, a mom and a nurse. As a woman Fitness has given me the confidence to know that I can defend myself if the situation arose. As a mom to a little girl, I am her role model. She often comes with me to the box and stays in the childcare area. I know shes’s watching me because I can hear her cheering “GO Momma!!”. Right now she’s just excited to “go workout (as she says)”, but later she will see how important it is to work hard to achieve your goals and also not be afraid to be a STRONG WOMAN. As a nurse, I regularly have to lift patients, push stretchers, and perform emergency life saving interventions without any notice. Many times my patients say, “oh, I don’t know if your big enough to help me”. In the end, its always funny when I surprise them and my co-workers with my strength.
Fitness Penance is an amazing place for all people. Our box is very different from a gym. We are not looked at or referred to as Fitness members by our coaches. We are seen as the Fitness Penance Family. The coaches are excellent teachers. They truly put our needs before theirs and have our best interest at hand. They encourage us to be better even when we aren’t sure of ourselves. They have great confidence in us, not only in the box, but in life too. Our family grows more and more each year. So much so that Clint had to double the size of the box. We are all there for one another and truly enjoy seeing others accomplish goals and get stronger. I have learned so much about myself and have accomplished things that I never thought I could have, for instance Murph. I would not be where I am today had it not been for the support and encouragement from my Fitness Penance Family. Everyone is there for the same reason, to be better and stronger than yesterday. “
